Jeedom tutorial: location with my iPhone

This tutorial is made for the Jeedom home automation system. It will show you how to get your smartphone location, and trigger an event based on that.

First of all, make sure you have all of this :

• A working Jeedom server, accessible from the internet;
• The Pilot plugin installed on your server;
• The app “Pilot: Home Automation Control” has to be installed on your iPhone, and already connected to your Jeedom server;
• Pilot Premium is required to activate the location service.

Setting up your Jeedom server

Let’s begin with making sure everything is OK on your Jeedom server.

1. Go to your Jeedom web interface, in the Pilot plugin settings page:
   
2. In this tutorial, we will simply use the device you created when you first setup the app. Keep its name in mind, we are going to need it;
   

That’s all. Now let’s get in the Pilot app!

Setting up the  “Pilot: home automation control” app

1. Launch the app;
2. Go to “Settings > Location services”;
3. If it is the first time you are trying to create a location, the “new location” scren will appear right away. If it doesn’t, simply tap the “+” button at the top right border of the screen;
4. Enter the name of your location;
5. Tap on the “Switch” cell, then select the device you setup in the Jeedom server;
   1. 1. Tip: you can actually select any device you want, as long as it has a ON/OFF state.Pilot will then trigger a OFF command when it leaves home, and a ON command when it gets home;

6. When you select the device, simply fill the home address, by taping the “Locate me” button, or by entering it with your keyboard;

That’s it! Your Jeedom server and your app are now all set. You can now use it in your own scenes and trigger an event whenever your device reaches, or leaves home.

As you might have guessed, the dummy switch goes “On” when the smartphone is home, and goes “Off” when it leaves home. Knowing that, you should be able to create your own events. Got any question? Please leave your comments below!
